My Phone does not Support Automatic Backup / How do I do a Manual Backup?

If you’re seeing an “Uh Oh… Your phone does not support Automatic Backup message” you are being prompted to complete a Manual Backup.

Why do I have to do a Manual Backup?

Some phones are not able to read the connection between your Picture Keeper USB drive and the charging port of your phone. This means that your Picture Keeper cannot complete an Automatic Backup as normal. But you can still easily backup your photos to your Picture Keeper drive for safekeeping in just a few extra steps.

How to do a Manual Backup:

Please Note: You will need the use of a Mac or PC computer to complete a Manual Backup.

Tap the “Start Manual Backup” button to begin. If you are unable to get to a computer at this time, tap “Cancel” and wait to complete your backup until later, otherwise tap “Ok.”

Step One: If your Picture Keeper is still attached to your phone, you can take it out now. Once it is unattached you can tap the Green button to proceed to Step 2.

Step Two: During Step Two, your Picture Keeper Connect app will start preparing your photos for Manual Backup. This will take a few minutes, please be patient. Now is a good time to get your computer powered on, as you will need it for Step 3.

Step Three: Use the USB side of your Picture Keeper to plug into your computer and then open the Picture Keeper Application.

  • For Windows User: In Explorer, open the LaunchPictureKeeper.exe file from the PK Backup Drive.
  • For Mac Users: In Finder, open the PictureKeeperForMac files from the PK Backup Drive.

Once open, tap the Green button on the Picture Keeper Connect app to proceed to Step 4.

Step Four: Click the Gear Icon in the top right corner of the Picture Keeper application. In the drop-down menu, select the “Manual Backup (Copy Mobile Photos)” option.

Step Five: In the pop-up box, enter in the log-in credentials you used for the Picture Keeper Connect App and click “Copy from Mobile.”

Picture Keeper will now backup your Mobile Photos to your Picture Keeper drive!

Please be patient, this may take as long as a normal backup. Once done, you will be show how many photos were copied to your drive and will be given the option to “View Photos.”

Congratulations! You have successfully completed a Manual Backup!
